| The Woodbury Volunteer
Fire Department is actively seeking new
members. |
| |
| Are you a teacher, construction worker, housewife,
truck driver, nurse, mechanic, salesman, technician
or machinist? If so, then you have something in
common with at least one of our members. |
| |
| Do you enjoy helping
people, take pride in a job well done, like to make
new friends, want to provide a valuable service to
your community? |
| |
| YES? Then . . . . SUBMIT AN
APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP! |
| |
 |
| |
| Who may apply? |
| |
| Any Resident of Woodbury 18 years
of age or older, without regard to race, color,
creed or sex, may submit an application for
membership. |
| |
| Anyone who meets the above
qualifications but lives outside the Town of
Woodbury may apply for membership, provided that
they are working in town at a regular job and
provide written proof from their employer that
they are able to perform firefighting duties
during working hours. |
| What is required? |
| |
| Applicants must pass a Department
physical exam, administered by the Department’s
contracted medical facility, before their
application can be processed for probationary
status. The Town of Woodbury pays for this exam. |
| |
| The applicant is interviewed by the
Membership Committee and a background investigation is
conducted prior to appointment as a probationary member. |
| |
| Probationary members serve a six-month
training period. During this time, specific requirements
must be met: |
- Attendance at 50 percent of Department
sponsored training sessions. Training is
normally conducted on Monday and Thursday
evenings, with special training held on
weekends.
- Response to at least 30 emergency calls.
Probationary members must complete OSHA
required training before responding to any
calls. Participation will be limited to tasks
that prior training has been completed.
- Attendance at 5 Department or Company meetings.
Each member is assigned to either the Hotchkissville
or Orenaug Fire Company. Companies meet on the
first Thursday of the month to conduct company
training and hold a business meeting. Department
meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the
month, except during July and August.
|
| |
| The Membership Committee meets monthly
and will review the progress made by each probationary
member. When all requirements are met, probationary
members are appointed as full members. |
